STORYTELLING : An Italian Story

This is a traditional story, an "educational story" that was told to teach children values and behaviours. |

Lesson plan: fourth
class The class is working about food: Italian and English food. They discuss
in Italian about an English school menu and an Italian one. Then they
use he “ I like…and I don’t like” structures to have conversations
about English menu. |

Second lesson Before telling the story the teacher writes some words on the blackboard Then the teacher prepares the “ scene” : all students
sit in a circle and in the middle there are a pot and all the vegetables she’s going to use to “prepare” the
soup After that the teacher sits
near the students and begins telling the story using only the present
tense. The story is very different from the original the teacher adapted it according
to her Students help the teacher giving her the vegetables and other things she
needs so they have to remember the words. |

Third lesson The students in their mother tongue discuss about the story then they try
to remember the order of the story and decide to draw pictures about
the main parts of the story and write simple sentences.

Fourth lesson They first do the work all together and the teacher writes the sentences on the blackboard then they draw and write on their exercise-book. |

Fifth lesson All the students read the story then they try to remember looking at the
pictures . |
